During law school, he clerked with a law firm in Buckhead and specialized in viatical settlements, general corporate law, and choice of entity formation. After graduation, he worked as an associate with a boutique tax law firm in downtown Atlanta for three years where he specialized in estate planning and wealth transfer, taxation, business succession, probate, asset protection planning, and business planning. During this time, John assisted clients with specialized tax saving techniques for exporting businesses and captive insurance companies.

John and his wife, Elizabeth, live at their small horse farm in Lula and enjoy spending their time outdoors caring for their four-legged family members.
