Justin S. Sheffield

Justin S. Sheffield is an associate at Stewart, Melvin & Frost focusing on estate planning, probate, trust administration, and like-kind exchanges. He designs practical, flexible plans using wills, powers of attorney, advance directives for health care, and trusts, and advises fiduciaries—including executors, administrators, and trustees—through all phases of estate and trust administration. He also facilitates like-kind exchanges (also known as “1031 exchanges”), a process by which property owners aim to defer capital gains taxes when selling real estate.

Justin is a graduate of the Southeast Fellows Institute of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), an exclusive, in-depth program designed to develop future leaders in trust and estate law.

Justin graduated magna cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law, where he was the president of the College’s Estate Planning and Wealth Management Law Society. He earned awards for academic achievement in Research, Remedies, and Lawyering Advocacy.

In law school, Justin served as Research Assistant to Professor Mary F. Radford, helping Professor Radford update her treatises on wills, trusts, estates, guardianships, and conservatorships in Georgia. He also interned at the Gwinnett County Probate Court.

Justin is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he studied music performance. He remains an active musician, playing piano and singing with his wife, Kimber, at Gainesville United Methodist Church.
