Attorneys Kristin K. Bloodworth and J. Bryce McCarter have joined Stewart, Melvin & Frost.
Bloodworth, a Gainesville native, is a seasoned litigator who focuses her practice primarily on government and municipal law. McCarter, a Blairsville native and 2021 graduate of Mercer University School of Law, will concentrate his practice on litigation and also works in family law and county/municipal government law.
Bloodworth began her legal career as a Superior Court staff attorney in the Augusta Judicial Circuit before entering private practice with a general litigation firm. After a family move to Texas, she began to develop her government background as a Judicial Law Clerk with the U.S. Magistrate Court in the state’s Western District. She served as a Bexar County Assistant District Attorney (Civil Division) in San Antonio and later as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District.
During her government service, Bloodworth represented federal and state agencies in civil litigation regarding torts, constitutional violations, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claims, civil rights, and immigration matters. She has also advised government agencies on matters of local and federal law, risk management, intergovernmental contracts, employment disputes, and collective bargaining agreement grievances.
Bloodworth is a magna cum laude graduate of the Women’s College of Brenau University. In 2009, she received her Juris Doctor from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law.
A Mercer University School of Law graduate, McCarter is also a cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in political science. During college, he served an internship with the Office of Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal.
McCarter also earned experience as a law clerk for Akins and Davenport in Blairsville as well as with Superior Court Judge David Mincey in Macon-Bibb County. He served as a student prosecutor with the Cobb County District Attorney’s office.
